OWN IT Nepal:one-day leadership summit for youth

On March 31st, 2018, Women LEAD Nepal will hold a one-day leadership summit for youth called OWN IT Nepal. OWN IT Nepal seeks to bridge the gap between Nepali female leaders of the 21st century and the young women who aspire to be like them by producing accessible events for all demographics—not just those who can afford to pay their way.

OWN IT Nepal aims to bring together 200+ ambitious young women who can be the future leaders of Nepal. Through OWN IT Nepal, we aim to rewrite the narrative about what it means to be a woman in Nepali society and bring together youth who are eager to contribute to their country through art, business, journalism, politics, public service and more!

The first OWN IT Summit was held at Georgetown University in the USA. This would mark the first international expansion of the summit. OWN IT Nepal is being independently organized under the leadership often young women aged 18-26.

Tickets to the event are 300 rupees. It includes a vegetarian lunch and two tea breaks. Attendees must be present for the entire event. You must also pick up your ticket one week after reserving your ticket or lose your seat.

What are Experiential Sessions?

OWN IT Nepal will feature nine different experiential sessions: three sessions from 10:45am-11:45am, three sessions from 11:50pm-12:50pm, and three sessions from 1:55pm-2:55pm. Each participant will select one session at each time. Experiential sessions include:• Breakout Sessions (Topic-Based):
Breakouts are topic-based discussions where speakers will discuss their experiences within the subject area as a woman and leader. Speakers will draw heavily from personal experiences and real-world examples.

• Workshops (Skill-Based):
Workshops are hands-on sessions with the goal of teaching a singular skill or skill set and how it relates to success or leadership. These sessions will be more interactive, rather than lecture-style.

• Office Hours (Relationship-Based):
Office hours are casual conversations with a small group about the speaker’s personal and professional experiences. These sessions will be largely question-and-answer in format. Participants should possess an interest in perhaps one day pursuing a career in the speaker’s field!

Date: March 31, 2018
Time: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
Venue: Bougainvilla, Tripureshwor
